Good and enlightening

The Dr. Martin Luther feature is good and enlightening. In the modern world, it is increasingly difficult to be accepted for being black and loving it and being proud of it. I am black and I love it and I believe that one day better must come.

 Well done!

Very well done! I bumped on this page when I was homesick and have been listening to the Martin Luther King recording for the last half hour.

Really informative

Very well put together and really informative. I wasn't even aware that Dr. King had visited Jamaica. The time is a great idea to make us aware of key events such as this one in Jamaican history.

Long overdue

Pieces of the Past is long overdue. We as a people, a black people need to be reminded of where we all came from and where we are now and how we got here.

The black on black crime here in the US, Jamaica as well as anywhere else in the world is deplorable. There has been too much sacrifice of great black leaders both men and women for us as a race to be slaughtering each other like we are doing. Thank you Gleaner for being so accessible by being on-line.

Thank you for such intelligent news reporting.

Timely and inspired

Your piece on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was timely and inspired. We obviously need to revisit the work of this great human being and apply his thoughts and aspirations to our current scenario in Jamaica. There needs to be a moral rebirth and it is only through deep introspection and a return to the basics can we "overcome" this current roller coaster ride into the abyss.

Very interesting

The articles in "Pieces of the Past" are very interesting. I don't remember having any knowledge of the Port Royal earthquake and its effect on that section of Jamaica. I would also like to read about the National Heroes, what they did for the people (country) and how they became heroes. I find the history of my country very fascinating and I enjoy reading your articles.
