LETTER OF THE DAY - Punishing the public with violent images
THE EDITOR, Sir: IT WAS mid-morning and as I went about my daily tasks, I gave half an ear to the radio feature on health promotion. Immediately following, the sound of a gun cocked then fired, shattering glass, snatched my attention.

The plight of security workers
THE EDITOR, Sir: IT IS with great concern that I address the issue of the working conditions of security workers in Jamaica.

On the operations in Canterbury
THE EDITOR, Sir: IN THE early morning of Wednesday, October 15, 2003 the police carried out an operation in Canterbury, Montego Bay, St. James. During this operation three alleged gunmen were shot and killed and a number of arms and ammunition recovered.

Congrats, officers!
THE EDITOR, Sir: PLEASE ALLOW me this opportunity to congratulate four police officers from the Spanish Town Police Station. They are officers Cassel, Beckford, Taylor and Anderson who worked on the night of Friday, October 24, 2003, on patrol duty.

True respect for each other
THE EDITOR, Sir: AS MORE effort is put into the study of the phenomenon of homosexuality, in our ever-changing understanding of basic human psychology the evidence is emerging quite clearly to confirm that one's sexual orientation is directly...

Addressing the 'development' problem
THE EDITOR, Sir: MANY SUGGESTIONS have been made to address the 'development' problem, some have been well thought through, others superficial and some of little relevance. But all are well meaning. I am at a loss to know into which category my own...

Somerton Youth Club says thanks
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE SOMERTON Youth Club staged their first ever Senior Citizens Heroes Day Project. It was a huge success and there are a lot of people who made Monday, October 20, 2003 a success for us.

'Losing in the fourth quarter'
THE EDITOR, Sir: ON SUNDAY past I listened to what I considered to be a very interesting sermon titled, 'Losing in the fourth quarter'. The preacher used the imagery of basketball and teams like the New York Knicks who play well even leading in the...

Searching for Delroy Henry
THE EDITOR, Sir: MY NAME is Mitzie Theresa Henry. My father's name is Delroy Henry, he used to live in Spanish Town. I met him when I was only 13. At that time he was leaving for Canada.

Searching for Winston Crawford
THE EDITOR, Sir: I AM writing in an attempt to locate my father, Winston Crawford. He was a teacher at Seaforth High School in St. Thomas, formerly Seaforth Secondary.

Shaking off the old guard
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE RECENT antics of the JLP organisation is yet another reason why Mr. Seaga should step down. Mr. Seaga has little concept of current leadership skills the skills necessary to rebuild the party.

Bravo, Kaci!
THE EDITOR, Sir: IT WAS heart-warming to read that a Jamaican is the head of the student body at the University of Alaska Southeast.
