Shaking off the old guard
published: Saturday | November 22, 2003

THE EDITOR Sir,

THE RECENT antics of the JLP organisation is yet another reason why Mr. Seaga should step down. Mr. Seaga has little concept of current leadership skills the skills necessary to rebuild the party. If the party truly wants to take over, it must shake off the old guard, come into the 21st century and embrace an utterly new vision for Jamaica.

I cannot believe Mr. Seaga, and the other deputy leaders of the party, think that voters will return the JLP to government without a change in leadership. From the outside looking in, I am afraid that at best Mr Seaga is setting Jamaica up for civil war. If the man is a nationalist he should either step down or announce a timetable to do so.

I am, etc.,
