Be careful what you say

My eight-year-old son was a playful fellow and would not concentrate on his schoolwork. Totally frustrated, I sent him to sit in a corner and write an essay titled 'A garbage collector', telling him that it would be the only type of work he would be qualified for. He looked at me strangely and then quietly sat and started writing.
My only regret is that I did not keep his story. It stated that it was an honest way to earn a living, it offered free rides around the city, sightseeing, an opportunity to enjoy the cool breeze while standing at the back of the truck, meeting new friends along the way, free uniforms, including thick gloves and boots, and pride in keeping the city clean.
My son taught me to respect all professions as each person is an expert in his or her field and one should never, ever think a job is degrading. My son is now acting regional manager at the Solid Waste Management. His dream has come true - keeping the city clean. By the way, haven't you noticed that the streets are looking cleaner and beautiful plants are placed at strategic spots?
