Gifts from God

My children are gifts from God. After being married for seven years, God blessed me with Israel, who is four and a half; Immanuel, three years and four months; and Isabelle, one year and eight months.
Mothers who have experienced a wheezing child know that this can be distressing. Immanuel was admitted to hospital with what started as a simple cough. Now the moment a persistent cough starts, I puff with ventolin and this normally stops the coughing.
I discipline my children with a combination of spanking and a naughty corner. I teach them daily about saying 'I am sorry', 'I forgive you', and teaching them to hug and make up.
Israel was unable to relate effectively after one summer of watching too much television. We reduced the hours he spends watching television and had a combination of reading at home along with working with his teachers. Now, he reads very well at four.
I have realised that I will never be able to get back these years with them. I am treasuring every moment by playing with them, hugging them, regularly telling them I love them, and setting aside time to spend with them. I read Bible stories with them most nights and we pray together.
Most important, I speak positive things to them daily, for example, 'You are obedient', 'You are brilliant' and 'Hey Rhode Scholars!'
I am enjoying my I-threes!
