International star Bunny Wailer, who carries the enviable mantle of reggae's living legend, will be the headliner at the 17th annual Bob Marley Birthday Bash on Friday at the MXIII Lawn in Negril, Westmoreland.

"Yes sir, we are pleased to announce that Jah B (Bunny Wailer) is signed and sealed and we are absolutely thrilled," said Clive 'Cubba' Pringle, the promoter of the annual show. "We can safely say that we will be the only show that will have an original Wailer celebrating Bob Marley's birthday."

Stellar attraction

The concert is the stellar attraction in what will be a full week of celebration to mark the birthday of the late reggae icon. The concert will also feature other top-flight reggae stars such as Luciano, Capleton, Anthony B and Etana, alongside emerging star, Tanya P, and House of Leeds recording artiste, Iyahblazze.

"The line-up speaks for itself, as in addition to the established stars, you will have a Tanya P, who was voted the 'Top Female Reggae Artiste' in Canada for 2008; and Iyahblazze, who is fast becoming a household name in Jamaica," said Pringle.

To complement the artistes, the promoter has also secured the services of four established show bands, which he expects will enhance their performances. The bands are Bunny Wailer's Solomonic Orchestra, Capleton's Prophesy, Hardcore and SAME.

Nyah binghi Presentation

As in former years, patrons at the concert will have an opportunity to purchase art, craft and reggae/ rasta-related merchandise.

The concert is the stellar attraction among a list of major activities for what is a week of celebrations, which started yesterday with a Rastafari Nyah binghi Presentation at the MXIII lawn. The full slate of activities is as follows:

February 4 - Rocky Wednesday One Love Party

February 5 - Talent Star Search on the Rocks - Me Yard Restaurant

February 6 - Bob Marley Bash - MXIII Lawn

February 7 - Reggae Show and Buffet - Sea Star Jam

February 7 - Vintage show (Marcia Griffiths, Gregory Isaacs, Leroy Sibbles and Yellowman) - Bourbon Beach.
