Jamaica Gleaner Letters

Violence, not the true heart of Jamaica
THE EDITOR, Sir: THOUGH THE violence and discordant vibes at the Sting concert does, to a limited degree, reflect on some of the problems within Jamaica, we do not believe it reflects the true heart and soul of the island...

These activities must stop
THE EDITOR, Sir: ON THE evening of December 10, 2003 at about 7:30 I arrived from overseas at the Norman Manley International Airport.

Best ways for the future
THE EDITOR, Sir: TEACHERS OF the Windsor Castle Basic School in the small West Portland community express their views based on the best way for the future for the nation.

Picture-perfect paradise
THE EDITOR, Sir: AT THE foot of the Blue Mountain there's this picture-perfect place. From streaming waterfalls, breathtaking sites, cool climate and an array of edible fruits only seen in books.

Malvo life sentence
THE EDITOR, Sir: I REJOICE for the jury giving Lee Malvo life in prison and not death. At least he will still have his life. He still has four more trials to go through and I will pray him for him.

'Eat local'
THE EDITOR, Sir: THIS IS just a note to remind Jamaicans that they should eat what they produce. I am tired of hearing the farmers complain that they are not getting anything for their cows.

America is a wasteful country
THE EDITOR, Sir: AMERICA IS a wasteful country. On cable television recently I witnessed a chicken wing eating contest that took place in the USA. The winner is decided by whichever contestant consumes the most chicken wings.

We need the Minister of Education's intervention
THE EDITOR, Sir: I SEEK the intervention of the Minister of Education in the plight that students at the Liberal Arts College (LAC) are now facing.

'Pothole-free 2003'?
THE EDITOR, Sir: AS THE year 2003 rolls to a close, I ponder the pompous pronouncement by the Minister of Transport and Works, "Pothole Free by 2003", and I say to myself how typical of politicians.

Let's save our country
THE EDITOR, Sir: I AM a decent law-abiding citizen of Jamaica and I think I have a problem; I am law-abiding. We're now being painted into the corner of desperation at a rapid pace.

Sting promoters are responsible
THE EDITOR, Sir: AT THE recent press conference held at the Hilton Kingston, the promoters of Sting found it appropriate to blame Bounti Killa among others for the fiasco that took place instead of themselves.
