Over the eight years that it has been in operation, Coconuts on the Bay Restaurant and Bar, located at Fisherman's Point near the Ocho Rios Pier, has become accustomed to winning awards for its good food.

The Gleaner-sponsored Restaurant Week offers another chance for the restaurant to show off its gourmet delights such as its most popular dish among Jamaicans, oxtail, and also the internationally famous grilled and curried lobster and shrimp, curried goat and jerked chicken.

For Restaurant Week, the menu includes entrees such as chicken stuffed with mushrooms, served with Merlot sauce; fillet of tilapia, and roast pork loin. Dessert includes cheesecake with strawberry sauce and vanilla ice cream with fresh fruits.

Of course, before indulging in any of those delicious dishes, one has to prepare one's palate and what better way than to sip some cream of vegetable soup with smoked chicken and garlic croutons, or munch on a bowl of mixed green salad with honey Dijon mustard dressing?

Appetisers such as cream of vegetable soup and mixed green salad are also tempting.

According to Virender, Coconut's manager, the good food, aided by good service and excellent guest relations, has ensured that Coconuts remain the favourite restaurant for many persons. He hopes to capitalise on the Restaurant Week to widen his client base.

"Restaurant Week is a great opportunity for us and we aim to provide good food for customers who come to dine with us," says Virender.

Coconuts serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and opens from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

The bar section serves a wide assortment of liquors, juices and cocktails.

Coconuts is a must-stop if you are in Ocho Rios, St Ann, for Restaurant Week or any other time.
