Cavalier will meet the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) in today's feature game of the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association Claro Super League at St George's College, starting at 3:30 p.m.

Last season's runners-up Cavalier currently sit second in the standings, on goal difference, courtesy of their 3-0 victory over Bull Bay in last weekend's opening round, while last year's fourth-place finishers, the JDF, defeated Duhaney Park 2-0 to occupy third, also on goal difference.

Both Cavalier and the JDF have three points, as well as early leaders Rae Town, last year's Major League champions. The newcomers made a strong start with a 4-0 thumping of Maverley-Hughenden in a game that was played on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Cavalier's 29-year-old forward, Locksley Thompson, will once again be looking to lead his team to victory, after finishing as the competition's top goalscorer last season with 19 goals, which is the highest tally achieved in a season by a single player.

He also found the back of the net twice in their opening match at Bull Pen.

"I hope to lead my team into the Premier League," Thompson said. "I am not 100 per cent fit but it is getting there. "We are gelling together more like a team and we will be working together to win the Super League and reach the play-offs."

Thompson, who hopes to score 30 goals this season, knows that today's match will be a real test for their Premier League ambitions.

"We have a good match. They came fourth last season so I know it is going to be a very competitive game. So we just have to be mentally and physically prepared and may the better team win," he added.

The other games will see Jerome Waite's Constant Spring entertaining Real Mona FC, while Meadhaven United, who were demoted from the Premier League, will travel to last year's Major League winners, Rae Town FC.
