Rough day for Sunshine Girls

Published: Saturday | October 10, 2009

Jamaica's Sunshine Girls had a rough start to their World Netball Series 'FastNet' campaign in Manchester, England, yesterday, with close defeats to Australia and New Zealand either side of a victory over Samoa.

They now face must-win games against England and Malawi in today's action if they are to advance to the semis.

The Jamaicans went down 26-31 to the number-one ranked Australia team in their opening game.

However, they rallied to beat Samoa 30-22 in their second contest.

The Girls then closed their participation yesterday with a heavy 28-37 loss at the hands of New Zealand and will be looking to have a more productive day today in their two scheduled games.

They will first face the home team at 5:35 a.m. local time, before their 10:05 a.m. match-up against Malawi.
