A Thrilling contest is expected today when Majesty Gardens face Runnin' Rebels in the National Basketball League (NBL)/Flow championship, which both coaches describe as a must-win game.

The match will be played at the National Stadium Courts, starting at 8 p.m.

In the curtain-raiser at 6:15 p.m., the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) will face Brave Chiefs.

The Majesty-Rebels encounter is expected to produce a lot of fireworks and good tactical plays, as both sides are evenly matched in all departments. Both have also won three of their four matches this season.

"All the teams in the Southern Conference are strong teams and losing a game at this point can determine if you go through to the play-offs," said Marland Nattie, coach of Majesty Gardens.

The south St Andrew-based team's only loss was an eight-point defeat to defending champions Urban Knights.

"These guys want to win and they are working very hard ... if they are able to do this then, ultimately, they should win this game," said Nattie.

Majesty Gardens will be depending heavily on the likes of former national Under-19 player and shooting guard Kemar McLeish, point guard Baldon Todd and centre Christopher Berry.

The Rebels' lone defeat was against the JDF and their coach, Ronald Beckford, acknowledged that they are facing a difficult challenge.

"We are expecting a tough game because Majesty Gardens is a good team and they have a good coach in Marland Nattie. But we know that we have the arsenal to defeat them," said Beckford.

"We know that we just have to be tough on defence and offensively we know that we have the firepower to outscore them," he added.

Centre Paran Brown, as well as shooting guards Green and Linford Brown, will lead the Rebels' charge.
