Lanky leg-spin all-rounder, Kingston College's Akeem Dewar, was in dazzling for this week, leading Jamaica to back-to-back victories in the TCL Group WICB U-19 Cup.
After claiming the man-of-the-match award in Jamaica's first victory over Guyana a week ago, Dewar returned to capture another two such awards against the Leeward Islands and the Windward Islands to put Jamaica in title contending position heading into this weekend's final set of matches.
Dewar, who was controversially left out of Jamaica's first match against Trinidad and Tobago, in which the hosts lost, has so far taken 22 wickets at an measly average of 7.30 and amassed an unbeaten 255 runs for an immaculate average of 255.
With one round of matches left in the three-day competition and the one-day championship to follow, Dewar, who represents Kensington Cricket Club in local competitions, says his immediate goal was to lead Jamaica the respective titles, make the regional Under-19 team for next year's ICC World Youth Cup in New Zealand; represent Jamaica at the senior level; and, ultimately, the West Indies senior team.
