Front-runners August Town will face third-place Cavalier Soccer Club in a top-of-the-table clash at Constant Spring in round nine of the Claro Kingston and St Andrew Football Association Super League competition today, beginning at 3 p.m.

August Town, on 18 points, are keen on staying atop the tables as second-place Jamaica Defence Force and Cavalier are breathing down their neck - tied at 17.

Calvert Fitzgerald, coach of August Town, stated that the team has been in preparation all week and he expects them to remain in the top position even though they will be without two of their top players, who were red-carded last week.

Positive results

"In order for us to maintain the lead in the competition, we have to beat Cavalier. We trained hard all week and are expecting positive results," Fitzgerald said.

"With the JDF being in second place, it is even more important that we win and stay ahead of them," he added.

Meanwhile, manager of Cavalier, Barrington Deer, stated that his team will have an open approach to the game as on any given day that they decide to play good football, they will have positive results.

"We are taking it one game at a time. However, we will not let our guard down and underestimate the opponent," Deer said.

Deer stated that this is the first time that they will be playing August Town in the Super League and he expects his team to play well.

"We have some quality players who can turn the game in our favour, so let us see what happens," he said.
