JAMAICA, New York (CMC):

Jamaican reinsman Rajiv Maragh snatched two wins on Wednesday's nine racecard at Aqueduct to stay in touch with the leaders at the northeastern United States racetrack.

The 23-year-old rode winners in race seven and nine to move to 20 wins for the season and assume third in the jockeys' standing behind leader Ramon A. Dominguez (35) and Charles Lopez (22).

Maragh first reached the winners' enclosure aboard Chief Export when he guided the gelding to a handsome victory over the four-year-olds and upward.

He claimed his second win two races later when he steered the five-year old Cat Radio to a narrow win in a six-furlong sprint.

Edged to the front

Following an even break, Maragh put Chief Export immediately to the front, hustling the field through tidy fractions of 22.86 seconds and 46.16 seconds in the six-furlong event.

The seven-year-old was pinned down by Hale and Hearty in a duel along the rails that lasted until mid-stretch.

Once there, however, Maragh edged the gelding clear to win by two and a half lengths in a time of 1:11.04 minutes.

In race nine, Maragh broke Cat Radio smartly and positioned her in second behind the leader Billy's Girl throughout the early going.

After pressing the pace, Maragh egded the mare to the front in mid-stretch and raced strongly to the post to win by two lengths.
