Under a strong ride from five-time champion jockey Trevor Simpson, THE GREYT DOCTOR (No.13) overhauls the favourite FIRST LADY (Omar Walker) to win the seventh race over 1200 metres, in a driving finish, at Caymanas Park last Saturday. TWENTYFIRSTOFJUNE can win her second trophy race in just over two months when she faces six opponents in the Howard Phillipps Memorial Cup over 1100 metres, a restricted allowance IV race confined to non-winners of three.

From the stables of 14-time champion Philip Feanny, the lightly raced but speedy four-year-old filly impressed over the distance on December 3 when slamming subsequent dual winner, GIRLOFMYDREAMS, in post-to-post fashion by seven lengths in the Titania Trophy.

She covered the distance in the good time of 1:06.2, behind splits of 23.3, 46.4.

Hard to beat

TWENTYFIRSTOFJUNE, who is by Royal Minister out of Good Press, was installed an 8-5 favourite to follow up over 1300 metres in non-winners of three on December 20, but after disputing the lead into the straight, weakened into sixth place behind FLAGAMAN.

She apparently found the distance a trifle long and, now reverting to this snappy trip, should prove hard to beat with only 49.5kg and Panamanian jockey Dick Cardenas aboard.

Significantly, TWENTYFIRSTOFJUNE has turned in bullet work after bullet work in her preparation for the race, galloping three furlongs in 34-flat on January 23 and 47.3 for four furlongs on February 1.

Stiff opposition

Still, while she is definitely the horse to beat, 'JUNIE' can expect stiff opposition from the very fit FIRST LADY with champion jockey Omar Walker riding for champion trainer Wayne DaCosta once again, and the Carl Anderson-trained LAWS OF THE CAT, a lightly raced but speedy roan filly who is coming off a recent win.

FIRST LADY went down fighting last Saturday when caught close home by THE GREYT DOCTOR over 1200 metres. Back in action from the convenient mark of 52.0kg, she is a worthy opponent for top honours.

However, FIRST LADY will more than likely have to play second fiddle to TWENTYFIRSTOFJUNE on the lead and I expect the order to remain unchanged to the line.

Also on the card is the Pansy Thompson Trophy for the CTL 'Employee of the Month', to be contested by eight starters over 1100 metres, as well.

The improving GIVEITTOMEBABY (Trevor Simpson up), who won in the fast time (1:06.3) over the distance on January 10, is tipped to complete a hat-trick of wins on this, her third start. She is trained by Richard Azan for Elite Bloodstock.

Other firm fancies on the card are CHARLIE CHAPLIN (little to beat) in the third race, LUCKY EDDIE (fit) to go one better at the expense of the lightly weighted MEDUSA in the fourth, MEELO (knocking at the door) to stave off JUNGLE QUEEN in the sixth, QUEEN OF MY HEART (consistent) to nose out down-in-class ISLA in the seventh race over 1400 metres for high claimers and the down-in-class GOOD HOPE to beat FIRE D TRAINER in the eighth race for bottom-level claimers.
