KIDS charity next month

Published: Friday | September 25, 2009

This year the Hilton Kingston will be hosting its annual Kindness in Donation and Services (KIDS) golf tournament on Sunday, October 11, at Caymanas Golf Club.

This is just one of several major projects which will be undertaken in an attempt to bring greater awareness to the KIDS charity programme and most importantly, to raise funds to continue enhancing early childhood education in Jamaica.

The charity programme will also be seeking to assist 15 families this year, who were previously housed under one roof in the Allman Town community, but were made homeless as a result of a fire.

Basic education focus

Since the inception of the Hilton Kingston's KIDS charity programme in 2001, its main focus has been on basic education. This has seen the charity raising over $37 million to assist beneficiaries such as the KIDS Basic School in Clarendon, the St Alban's KIDS Basic School in Denham Town, Kingston, the Budy Madden KIDS Basic School and most recently, the St Tekle Haimanot KIDS Basic School in Bull Bay, St Andrew.

In addition to the golf tournament, a black tie gala awards ceremony will be held on October 13 and a KIDS telethon on November 1.
