Ridden by Florida-based Venezuelan jockey Wilmer Galviz for owners Tres Amigos and trainer John O'Brian, the classy three-year-old grey colt by Wheelawa out of Road To Justice toyed with his 12 opponents to lead home another Jamaican-bred horse, MISSION KING, with Chris Husbands aboard, winning as the odds-on favourite. He covered the 2000 metres distance in the smart time of 2:05.3.

Third went to KETCHIKAN and fourth to MARATHON MAN, the mount of Florida-based Jamaican jockey Wesley Henry. Since shipped off to Trinidad in July, 'BRUCE' has won three races, including the Midsummer Stakes, the second leg of the T&T Triple Crown.

Prior to his arrival in Trinidad, BRUCEONTHELOOSE had won the Jamaican 2000 Guineas and the St Leger, failing by the narrowest margin to win the Derby with leading all-time jockey Winston Griffiths riding for many-time champion trainer Philip Feanny.
