WELLINGTON, New Zealand (CMC):
Jamaica internationals Romelda Aiken and Althea Byfield picked up significant playing time Wednesday and helped the World 7 outclass New Zealand 53-44 in the second Test of the New World International Netball Series.
Aiken and Byfield both came off the bench at half-time and made sure the World 7 completed the win at the Rotorua Energy Events Centre that gave them a winning 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
The World 7 led the quarters 15-7, 23-16, 39-30 en route to the 11-goal win, Aiken netting a team-high 24 goals.
It was a frustrating night for the rebuilding Silver Ferns, who were stifled by the talented composite team of players from Australia, England, Jamaica and Samoa.
England's Geva Mentor, who starred in the World 7's smothering defence, was named Player of the Match.

Aiken, fresh from helping Jamaica to bronze at the World Youth Netball Championship (WYNC) in the Cook Islands last week, had been rested for Monday night's opening game and Byfield got no playing time when the World 7 won 48-44 to grab a lead in the series.
On Wednesday night, Aiken was solid on her introduction as goal shooter and went 13 from 13 in the third quarter, while Byfield was also strong at wing defence.
New Zealand had their best run in the last frame when they tied the World unit 14-14.
The Silver Ferns' international standout Irene van Dyk netted a game-high 26 goals from 29 tries for 90 per cent accuracy and got good support from Maria Titaia (15/21).
Aiken shot at 89 per cent by scoring her 24 from 27 attempts, while Australian Megan Dehn (15/18) and England's Louisa Brownfield (14/16) helped to bolster the World 7's charge.
The third and final Test will be played today.
