The Gleaner and Scotiabank will meet in today's final of the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Business House division one league at the University of the West Indies Bowl, starting 4 p.m.
In the curtain raiser at 2 p.m. for the division two title, Petrojam and Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) will contest the final.
Petrojam, who are unbeaten this season, will start as the favourites to claim their first division two title. They secured their spot in the final with a 2-0 victory over Wisynco in the semis. NMIA booked their place in the final with a 3-1 win over Grace Kennedy.
The feature match between The Gleaner and Scotia is expected to be an exciting encounter, as both teams are evenly matched in all departments and have registered a win apiece in head-to-head confrontations this season.
knockout competition
When both sides met in the semi-final of the knockout competition, Scotia secured a 2-1 victory over The Gleaner.
Just days afterwards, The Gleaner beat Scotiabank 2-0 in a league match.
Calvert Fitzgerald, coach of Scotiabank, is very optimistic his team can repeat that feat.
"We are very confident because we have beaten them already in the semi-final of the knockout competition and we believe that we can beat them again," said Fitzgerald.
He added that he was expecting a tougher game from their opponents because they were very good all-round side.
"We will have to take control of the game from the opening whistle because they have a lot of good ball players and I believe that once we put away our chances, then we should win the game," said Fitzgerald, who is also the coach of Premier League side August Town.
Striker Nicholas McCreath, along with Ajuran Brown, Elgin Mitchell, Norwayne Knight and Sheldon Palmer are all expected to lead Scotia's hunt for their first division one title.
come-from-behind win
The Gleaner secured their spot in the final with a 2-1 come-from-behind win over National Water Commission last week.
However, since that victory, Barrington Deer, manager of The Gleaner, said his team has not trained since.
"I think we have a fairly good chance of winning, but we have not been training because of a setback that we have had due to a hearing which was brought against us, but we're going to give it our best shot," said Deer.
"We are expecting a very hard game from them because I know that the condition of the Scotia team is far above us," Deer said.
The Gleaner will be depending heavily on the likes of goalkeeper Everdean Scarlett, midfielders Oniel Morrison and Kevin Samuels, defenders Bernard Blackwood and Dwayne Thompson, and striker Kemel Mullings.
