Help Grants Crescent, please!

The Editor, Sir:

You will recall my letter to The Gleaner on 'The Perils of Grants Crescent', which was published on February 6. It was about the deterioration of Grants Crescent, which is an adjoining road leading off Hagley Park Road on to Montgomery Avenue in Richmond Park, St Andrew.

This deterioration is the direct result of heavy rains in the previous year, the expanding of existing potholes and the consistent heavy traffic flow from being used as a 'turn off' or short cut going to and from Hagley Park Road through to Richmond Park by utility vehicles and private-passenger vehicles, resulting in what are now massive potholes along our narrow roadway.

We were recently graced with the presence of our esteemed member of parliament (MP) at our Richmond Park community meeting in April of this year. He was well received, as we had a number of concerns regarding our community, including 'The Perils of Grants Crescent'.

Make good on promise

We the residents of Grants Crescent are looking forward for our MP to come good on his promise to address our road woes, as the situation seems to worsen with each heavy shower of rain.

We are now in the hurricane season and our concerns have now heightened, and we are worried that this problem with our road will escalate if not addressed soon.

We would like to take this opportunity to urge our MP in this open letter to act on our behalf to expedite a solution for Grants Crescent, as we are in a very bad condition at this time.

I am, etc.,

Shana Thompson
