Jamaica's Johnny Bloomfield created history yesterday afternoon at the Half Moon Golf Course in Montego Bay, when he became the first man to win the Lime Jamaica Golf Open three consecutive times.

Bloomfield, who started the day six strokes behind Canadian Oliver Tubb - who led after the first day of the three-day 54-hole championship - had his best day of the championship, shooting a good 69 to give him a winning combined scored of 214.

Three-time winners

"I am elated with this win, especially since I had so much ground to make up on today's final day," said Bloomfield.

"It is nice to know that I am the first man to win the title in three consecutive years," he added.

Bloomfield now joins Seymour Rose and Mike Higuera as three-time winners.

However, unlike him, their victories came over a number of years.

For his win, Bloomfield pocketed US$14,000.
