VILLAGE BLUES BAR: Much excitement for the entire week

Published: Friday | November 6, 2009

Village Blues Bar is under new ownership and according to co-owner, Keisha Reynolds, participating in this year's Gleaner-sponsored Restaurant week will give the establishment some timely publicity.

Village Blues Bar, located along Barbican Road in St Andrew, is a lyming spot where patrons can engage in conversation over a few sips. There are also scheduled activities on various nights for persons to participate in.

For the week of November 7-14, special nightly plans have been made to accommodate and entertain patrons. According to Reynolds, each night's activity is scheduled to start about 8 p.m. "Each night persons can come out expecting something different. Tomorrow night, the start of Restaurant Week, we will have live entertainment. On Sunday, we will have poetry night - a once monthly activity at the Village. For Monday, which isn't necessarily a lively day, there will be art exhibits followed by our Tuesday Night Live. The latter takes place every Tuesday where there is a full band and for Restaurant Week, we will have a well-known artiste performing with the band," says Reynolds.

Getting in touch with the customers' humorous side, the bar will be hosting a comedy night on Wednesday and a repeat of the art exhibition on Thursday. To wind down the week, persons will get to enjoy a drink special night and fashion show. "Friday night will be our drink special night where persons can opt to pay $1,000 and drink rum and vodka all night. On Saturday we will be hosting a fashion show."

Reynolds also adds that while there are planned activities, depending on the requests of customers, certain adjustments can be made to the line-up on particular days. Throughout the course of the week, there will also be mixed drinks specials.
