This is the first in our new Outlook series What they Wore, in which we will select an unusual, interesting, the sensational, the ethnically inspired or just downright fabulous outfit from the many social functions we attend and give it the attention it deserves.

The first was seen at the Ceremony of Investiture and presentation of National Honours and Awards at King's House on October 19.

The choice was fitting as from head to toe, Barbara Beckford's ensemble oozed national pride. She trimmed her straw hat with bandana plaid and the collar of her peasant-styled top as well as the hem of the skirt featured another Jamaican favourite - cutwork embroidery!

The result, a totally refreshing package.
