East Japanese - For sushi and a whole lot more

Published: Thursday | October 29, 2009

Sushi has become more familiar to the Jamaican palate since East Japanese Restaurant first opened here some four years ago. Though it is not Jamaica's first sushi restaurant, East Japanese is certainly a crowd favourite; and its artfully crafted and equally delicious sushi rolls - both cooked and uncooked - are a refreshing addition to Jamaica's gastronomic scene.

Trendy

Inside the trendy dining enclave nestled within the Market Place Courtyard, the modern décor of East Japanese has the feel of a swanky New York sushi bar, but the warmth and hospitality of the staff are definitely Jamaican. The service are very intimate, and for every customer who walks through their doors, "we want them to enjoy a friendly and relaxing atmosphere," says supervisor Roger Clark.

Ambient lighting and comfortable seating give support to a relaxing atmosphere that accommodates couples, families, small groups, and just about anyone who wishes to enjoy their brand of intriguing Japanese fare.

For this, its third year participating in the Gleaner-sponsored Restaurant Week, East Japanese will continue to introduce Jamaicans to sushi and other Japanese dishes. Its excellent pricing will likely attract patronage, while tasty dishes and personalised service will earn it many return customers.
