A daughter's gratitude
Published: Thursday | October 1, 2009
On Friday, September 25, at 1 p.m., my mom experienced all the side effects of a medication and fainted after she alighted from a bus in the vicinity of Newport East.
I subsequently received a call from a woman, via my mother's mobile phone, informing me of the incident. The woman indicated that they were workers who had witnessed her fainting. The two women along with the male driver of the vehicle immediately stopped, picked up my mom and rushed her to the nearest hospital, Kingston Public Hospital, ensuring that she got into the Emergency Ward, and from there, they again contacted me.
Already left
By the time I got to the hospital, however, these two women and the man had already left, as I understand they were on their way to work and as such, I didn't get the chance to speak to any of them and my mom, at the time was not in a position to get any particulars.
I am publicly sharing this story as I would like these three persons, especially the two wonderful women who called me repeatedly to ascertain if I was on my way, to know how grateful I am for their swift actions in getting her to the hospital. My mom is okay.
Your act of unselfish kindness reminds me of the Bible story, the good Samaritan. Neither of you, for one second, thought of passing her by.
My mom's personal belongings were not touched, nor any items removed from her handbag. The only interest displayed was to try and get to a relative as quickly as possible.
Thank you ladies and gentleman, from the bottom of my heart and wherever you all work, your company really ought to know the truly wonderful, caring, thoughtful and kind individuals you are.
God bless you three and may He reward you for the unselfish act of love and kindness displayed to a 'neighbour'.
I am, etc.,
