Portmore, Barbican in women's final

Portmore Strikers and Barbican advanced to the final of the Sherwin Williams-sponsored Women's Football Premier League, following contrasting results over Waterhouse and Harbour View, respectively, in their second-leg semi-final matches at the Stadium East field on Saturday.
In the feature game of the double-header, a ruthless Barbican team, coached by Charles Edwards, thumped Harbour View 4-0 to advance 6-0 on aggregate. Janine Dennis scored a brace, while Jodian McGregor and Kerell Whyte netted a goal each.
In the curtain-raiser, Portmore went down 1-0 to Waterhouse, but advanced 3-1 on aggregate. They won the first leg 3-0 on Wednesday.
Portmore played casually in the opening match and could have paid dearly for taking the match lightly. Waterhouse's Tasheika Small, scored in stoppage time near the end of the first half to give Waterhouse hope, but that was all they got.
"I thought Waterhouse played a good game, but Portmore played a poor game. I thought some complacency crept in after our 3-0 win in the first leg," Cornel Clarke, coach of Portmore, said after the game. He insisted that his team will be ready for the final on Saturday.
Xavier Gilbert, the coach of Waterhouse, was unhappy with the result.
"I'm very disappointed that we are not in the final, especially with the way the girls played today, we really dominated the game. Portmore did extremely well in the first leg and probably deserve to be in the final," Gilbert said.
