BERLIN (AP):

Once Usain Bolt and Tyson Gay have settled who is the fastest man in the world this year, the Jamaican-American sprinting rivalry will move on to the women.

That's where Allyson Felix comes in. The two-time defending champion in the 200 metres is eager to overcome the disappointment of losing the Olympic race to Jamaican rival Veronica Campbell-Brown.

"I definitely had a disappointing time at the Olympics but I tried to learn a lot from it and take away the positive things. I feel rejuvenated," Felix said yesterday.

Good chance

"I think I have a good chance. Once the competition starts, I really thrive off that. I hope every round will be better.

"I feel this year has gone good for me. I am right where I need to be."

That could hardly be said for the Jamaican, who missed six weeks of training after injuring her left toe and right hamstring. She only has three 200 races behind her - but won them all.

"It's all in the mind," Campbell-Brown said. "The two injuries I have had this year meant I haven't been able to race as much as I normally do, but I have stayed strong and everything happens for a reason and I am ready to race. The body is in good shape to do that, I am confident."

Unlike her American rival, Campbell-Brown will double in Berlin, also competing in the 100.

Campbell-Brown's best result this season came in her last race before coming to Berlin, 22.37 seconds in Barcelona.

Felix stormed to the top of the rankings this season by running 21.88 in Stockholm two weeks ago. She was only .07 off her personal best, which she set when winning the 2007 world title in Osaka, Japan.

"I am definitely excited about having another chance to race her," Felix said of Campbell-Brown.

Sharing the wins

Campbell-Brown said she fed off the enduring rivalry with Felix.

"We have been sharing the wins between us for many years now," Campbell-Brown said. "It's game-face time now, no more playing around. It's time to focus.

"It is fun racing her because I bring my 'A' game and so does she, so I always have to make sure I am ready to run against her."

The 200 heats start Wednesday.
