Golding has the right values and attitude

The Editor, Sir:

In the '90s Prime Minister Patterson constantly referred to values and attitude, to the extent of initiating programmes which touted the slogan. However, we had come to the conclusion that the supposed values and attitude had led to widespread disregard for the laws of the country.

Prime Minister Bruce Golding from the day he achieved presidency of the JLP, has shown us what values and attitude is really about. He has put the country first from his inauguration as Prime Minister and he continues to do so. It is very unfortunate when misinformed, biased and envious individuals try to discredit every positive action taken or proposed by Prime Minister Golding. It is obvious for all who wish to see that Mr Golding is being opposed and vilified at every turn, as he tries to resurrect the country from the moral and financial degradation left by the former administration.

As a grandparent, I thank God that there are individuals in Jamaica who were brought up with Christian values and attitudes, who genuinely care for and protect their own children. I thank God he has blessed Bruce Golding with the humility needed to drag us out of the hell hole we find ourselves.

The prime minister faces many, many obstacles to economic and moral viability and he needs the support of those who wish our country and our children a decent and productive life. Thank God for our Christian values, there is always hope and God's blessings. People need to stop mouthing slogans of discouragement, publicised by those who wish to continue dominating the headlines and promote themselves and their limited selfish ambitions. As a people we are strong, resilient, ambitious, God-fearing and caring and we can excel with the right guidance.
