Why do men, especially those in relationships, have sex with prostitutes?

From the professional perspective, there are a number of reasons men might turn to a prostitute for sex.

"Many times it's boredom. There are some sexual acts that wives are squeamish about performing, maybe something as basic as oral sex, so they go there for the excitement," said Dr Heather Little-White, lifestyle consultant. "Maybe they won't go into another relationship," Little-White said of the men who might choose not to have a complete extra-marital relationship with another woman but rather choose to get instant gratification from a night with a prostitute.

"I've spoken to men about it. Some say they even perform better when they get home because they are so sexually charged," she said, explaining how men feel after sex with a prostitute.

She explained that the social gap is usually very wide between the two groups, with men of means patronising prostitutes who are usually from poor circumstances. The women, she said, set up at spots where they can best access these men.

"It's the RAV4s, the Prados and the Benzes," she said, describing the types of vehicles that often stop along popular business districts in New Kingston.

Using protection during these sexual escapades is essential, according to the men she spoke with.

"Definitely, they practise safe sex; some prostitutes even have condoms to give them," she said.
