Heading into the recently concluded West Indies Cricket Board four-day regional championship, not many cricket fans knew about the capabilities of wicket-keeper-atsman Chadwick Walton.

However, after a fairly decent season for the developmental Combined Colleges and Campuses (CCC), where he scored three half-centuries and bagged a number of victims behind the wicket, the former national youth representative rose to prominence to end the season as one of the top three wicketkeeper-batsmen in the region.

The 23-year-old former Munro College and University of the West Indies representative, who has drawn praise from at least one regional selector, then transferred to the domestic Jamaican Super-Cricket League last weekend where he scored a majestic 136 for title aspirants Kingston Tigers in their match-up against the Manchester Lions at Sabina Park.

A stroke-filled century, it propelled the Tigers to 309, a total which the Lions failed to surpass, thus giving his team their first points of the competition.
