Kemoy Campbell continued his winning form and Tanice Barnett, in her first race of the series, ran away with top place at Sunday's Clarendon Crime Prevention Committee 10k road race.

The race, the third in the five-race Burger King/Jamdammers Series, was routed along Glenmuir Road, Marcus Garvey highway and ended at Juici Beef Patties on Manchester Avenue.

Bellefield High's Campbell crossed the line in 31 minutes and 26 seconds.

Redemption's Shawn Pitter, who was some 400 metres behind Campbell at the 5K mark, finished more than a minute behind in 32:31, while Ebony Seek's Kirk Brown was third in 32:46.

Rupert Green (32:58) and Gregory McKenzie (33:12), both running unattached, were fourth and fifth, respectively.

"It (race) was pretty good, I enjoyed the race, I enjoyed the route because it's better than the one last year," Campbell said.

"The highway was challenging, the hill, but I did my best and my best carried me to victory, so I am happy for it," he added.

Campbell extended his lead atop the standings to the maximum 30 points, four more than Brown (26) and seven ahead of Pitter (23).

On the female side, Barnett outran race one and two winners, G.C. Foster College's Stacy Bell and Manchester High's Natoya Goule, respectively.

Barnett stopped the clock in 39 minutes and nine seconds, beating Goule (40:09) and Bell (40:58).

"I ran the race smart. I went out pretty easy and tried to maintain a pace throughout. There were a lot of hills but I ran over them smartly," explained Barnett.

Domination

Goule, who has dominated the road race series for years, described the race as a challenge, saying she had problems going over the hill.

"I think that is where I fell back because she (Barnett) was stronger on the hill," Goule pointed out.

Bell, despite two defeats, still leads the female section with 27 points, one ahead of Goule (26) and four in front Twishawna Williams (23).

In the lower school section, Holmwood beat Vere and Tacius Golding for the boys' title, whereas in the girls' category, Edwin Allen continued their impressive form on the road, topping Holmwood and Manchester.
