Western Bureau: They dropped their first point of the season in a 2-2 draw with Zone G rivals Edwin Allen but last year's beaten finalists Spaldings High still marched into the inter-zone round of the 2009 ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup yesterday afternoon as the point was enough to confirm their place.

Spaldings' record now reads 22 points accumulated through seven wins and a draw while Edwin Allen, who are seeking to join them in the inter-zone round, have moved up to 14 points, one more than third-place Knox (13). Knox drew 2-2 with Christiana High yesterday.

"We are a bit disappointed about losing our 100 per cent record but we are happy that we are still unbeaten," said Kirk Baker, the assistant coach of Spaldings.

In Zone E, former champions St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) and Munro College edged closer to sealing the group's two inter-zone places with respective 2-0 wins against Lacovia and Balaclava, both teams are now locked on 19 points.

Over in Zone A, where champions St James High and Cornwall College have already copped the two inter-zone places, the battle for the zone's lone Ben Francis KO slot remains quite intense as both teams came away with good wins in their respective fixture.

St James High, behind a hat-trick from star striker Allan Ottey, blanked former champions Herbert Morrison 4-0 to move up to 24 points while Cornwall College had a 2-0 win against Muschett High to move up to 21 points. Cornwall have played seven games to St James High's nine.
