Judith looks like she just stepped out of the hair salon after getting a gorgeous hairdo, but all she had to do was put on the layered bob wig. No hassle and long wait involved.

Long hair or maybe short, black or honey gold, curly or bone straight, it's all about exploring your options without having to touch your own hair. There are options in every length, cut and colour to suit your individual need, taste and personality. And it's a wig!

Sharon Smith of Fashionable Wig and Hair Salon says wigs are a quick and easy way to change or upgrade your look.

"Wigs can be worn to change up your style, to wear on different occasions, for medical reasons and even if you have problems with your hair, like it's thinning."

Offering 100 per cent human-hair wigs, clients can choose from a wide variety. Among those Smith stocks are: flesh-coloured wigs (popular among international female celebrities), which aren't noticeable as they are transparent at the hairline and roots; integration hair pieces for thinning hair; ponytails, and half wigs.

A safe and comfortable choice, wigs do not affect your natural hair at all.

"There isn't anything done that is permanent on the hair so it won't affect it. You can get colour without putting chemical in your hair. You can get straight or curly, long or short, without putting any stress or tension on your hair like hair extensions, which can cause hair breakage due to the tightness," notes Smith.

Wig care

Caring wigs is no different from caring your natural hair. Wigs should be washed every two to three weeks with shampoo, moisturiser and conditioner. Human-hair wigs can be set with rollers, blow-dried and flat-ironed. Regular oil sheen can be used every other day.

Most wigs come in one size with straps which can be adjusted for a proper fit to avoid mishaps.

The wigs are monofilament-based, thus providing ventilation. One difference between human and synthetic wigs is that the latter tends to generate heat.

When selecting wigs, it is always wise to select according to occasion, skin tone, shape of face as well as personality.

Ready for a change? Just wig it in style and glam up your look in a quick and easy way. Looking beautiful doesn't always have to be long and painful.

The bob is hot and, with different variations, it can suit many faces. Here Judith shows a diagonal bob-cut wig.

Sadeke changes things up a little with a black, medium-length wig.
