WESTERN BUREAU:

Only five months old and Bridget Jovi Robbins is already making a fashion statement. The tot was garbed in a white dress and black contemporary shoes for her baptism at the Holy Trinity Church in Montego Bay on Sunday, September 20.

Cuddled in the arms of her father, Scott, her equally proud mom, Tricia, was all over the little bundle of joy. The outpouring of love for this child was evident as was the seriousness of the path on which she was being guided.

Churches being criticised

"Churches are criticised for baptising children at an early age, but God accepts us in our vulnerability and it is the image of a child that we need to hold before us in order to live our Christian lives," said The Venerable Leon Golding in his proclamation.

"She (Bridget) is being baptised because of God's love, and only if we come as children are we able to enter God's kingdom."

Godparents, Noel 'Sport' Sloley Jr, Lori Ridley and Samantha Bourke were told by the church rector to ensure the child is instructed in the good news of God's salvation in Christ, the Church's creeds and catechism and all other things that a Christian ought to know.

It is a day for the babies and four-month-old Luke Stanley is a bundle of joy for his mom, Vicki Stanley.

So Ian Dear is practising on his little niece, Amelia Azan? Dear, soon to be a dad, was seen showing his affectionate side. We hope he had washed his hands, first!
