"I was inside preparing for a divisional meeting when two men walked in and said 'Tyson what a gwaan, give we a ting no.' I told them that I did not have anything. Then a see when they rubbed their stomachs and drew guns and started to fire shot on us,'' Parkins said.Parkins said he was not pointing fingers and hoped the investigation into the incident will bear fruit.
Meanwhile, Mayor of Portmore Keith Hinds, has condemned the shooting by the two men.
''I don't like what went on at the office and this must stop. The criminals that are targeting Portmore must know that their illegal activities won't be tolerated. For me it doesn't matter which party the persons are a part of, criminal acts are criminal acts," Hinds said.
The mayor said that Portmore has become a haven for criminal activities and it will take the effort of residents and the police to change that.
On Thursday at 7 p.m. gunmen invaded the offices of Fitz Jackson along the Newland Main Road, where they shot and injured Parkins and a senior citizen.
Operations Officer for the St Catherine South Police, Deputy Superintendent Clive Blair said the police will continue the search for the two men said to be involved in the shooting.
