THE EDITOR, Sir:

WE HAVE witnessed a phenomenal feat through our Jamaican athletes who performed magnificently in the Bejing Olympics in 2008. A year later, the sons and daughters of our nation are expected to perform equally as well and have even commenced signs of promising medal results at the end of these World Championship games.

I hereby call, first, on the people of Jamaica and, second, the Govern-ment to stop and observe the bigger picture - the global marketplace we have become, arising from the marketing of our nation through the talents of our athletes.

Answer the call

Of course, there are many other aspects of our talents which continue to be displayed thorough our music, culture and award-winning technological displays promoted widely internationally. The spotlight is now focused on the sporting side of things and we must recognise the tremendous benefits to come and commence the overhaul of this young nation which, at 47 years young, is poised for bigger and better things to come.

My countrymen, answer the call!

I am, etc.,
