Empty words from mere theorists

THE EDITOR, Sir:

AS MORE and more discussions take place on how to get the economy growing, it never ceases to amuse me how these programmes are packed with panellists who are mere theorists. Most of them have spent their entire lives in the employ of taxpayers, have never made an investment in a business, some even abhor capitalism and are still holding on to the socialist myth that governments can run businesses.

Get the experts

If journalists and programme producers were really interested in having meaningful discussions on how to grow the economy, shouldn't we be hearing from persons who have a track record in business? Even one such panellist would be welcome in such discussions.

Unless, of course, these pro-grammes are part of the 'comedy hour' on radio and TV.

I am, etc.,
