National striker Keammar Daley has signed a one-year contract with National Premier League champions Tivoli Gardens, according to the club's manager Brian Rose.
Rose told The Gleaner in an interview yesterday that he had been tracking Daley for the past four seasons and he is delighted to have secured his services for their upcoming campaign.
"I am extremely happy to have him here because he is a very good player and his attitude, workmanship is very high and very good and so we are delighted to have him on-board," Rose said. "I know that every team in the Premier League would love to have him in their team."
demoted
Daley represented Meadhaven United, who were demoted from the top league last season. Also joining Daley at Tivoli is his Meadhaven teammate Knockwayne Parchment along with Arnett Gardens' pair of goalkeeper Julian McLeish and midfielder Horace Sharpe.
Daley, who is a former Jamaica College Manning Cup star, scored 12 goals in last season's competition. He has also represented the national team at all levels.
"I am confident that he will add a lot of depth to our team. His work rate is very high and he will contribute a lot to our efforts to retain the NPL trophy," Rose said.
Rose added that it is going to take a lot of hard word and dedication if they are going to retain their title this season.
"I think that it is going to be much harder for us to retain our title because we are the defending champions and nobody is going to take us lightly. Last year, the pressure was on Portmore United, but I think it will be on us this season," Rose said.
Rose also mentioned that Jermaine Grey, Craig Stewart and Dwayne Ford have not reported for preseason training.
However, he does not believe their absence with affect his team's chances of winning the competition.
"I think that with the addition of these four new players plus five others which we have promoted from our Under-20 squad will add some depth to our squad," concluded Rose.
