  • Seprod whip Marksman in domino final

Seprod, the 2007 champions, defeated Marksman 124-90 in the final to win the Jamaica Electrical Technologies (JET)-sponsored Business House Division I domino final at Jacisera Park on Friday night.

In the Division 11 final at the same venue, National Baking Company drubbed SDC 139-117.

Seprod led from start to finish, winning by all of 34 points against the less-experienced Marksman. Seprod held a 27-point lead at half time and increased it after the interval to be 38 points clear at one stage.

Seprod's top pairs were Courtney McLean and Shushawnna Barrett along with Miguel Brown and Deon Lettman. Team captain Sean Hinds and manager Brian Rose were both elated that Seprod were able to rebound after winning and losing in the two previous seasons.

Hinds said: "It was a good overall team effort all season and although we lost one match to Wray & Nephew in the preliminary round, this did not deter us. We are a big occasion team and we dedicate this win to our former assistant manager Hugh Robinson, who passed away last season."

National Baking Company, on the other hand, won by 22 points, but unlike Seprod, led by only five points at half time. Their top pairs were Garnett Abbott and Gilbert Robinson, along with Colin Abbott and national player Leroy Reid. Winning captain was Melbourne Walker.

A week earlier, Scotia were beaten by defending champions Carib Cement who are second on 11 points from five matches, followed by The Gleaner in third with nine points also from five matches and NWC fourth with eight from five.

Meanwhile, Scotiabank are through to the semi-finals of the KO competition, having blanked Courts 2-0 last Wednesday at Charlie Smith School, thanks to goals from McCreath and Palmer in either half.

Carib Cement also advanced to the semis following their 4-2 win over NWC at Bull Pen last Monday. A brace from Santos' Senior League player Fabian Nethersole, one from Jermaine 'Fast Car' Rowe, and another from Twain Wynter was enough to derail NWC for whom David Laylor and Gregory McLean got consolation goals.
