Local track and field authorities are already moving to replace the five Jamaican track athletes who tested positive for a banned substance recently.

The Gleaner has learnt that at least one athlete, a sprinter based in the United States, has been told to travel to Germany by August 6 in time for the start of a pre-championships camp.

Members of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO) have been tight-lipped on their next moves since the doping scandal broke a week ago but, according to reports, hearings are being held this weekend for athletes who have asked for the testing of their B samples.

The deadline for final entries to the August 15-23 IAAF World Championships is 5 p.m. (Jamaica time) on Monday.

Officials here have not identified the athletes who have tested positive but 400 metres runner Allodin Fothergill and the managers of sprinter Sheri-Ann Brooks and another 400m competitor, Lansford Spence, have confirmed that they were contacted by JADCO on the positive tests.
