Mitchell banned for three days

In-form jockey Richard 'Bya' Mitchell has been suspended for three race racedays and fined $3,000 by the stewards for careless riding aboard VONALMIGHTY in the 11th and final race at Caymanas Park on Saturday, July 4.

VONALMIGHTY, who passed the post second to FEE FI FOE, caused interference to the third horse, BROTHERLY LOVE, under champion jockey Omar Walker, in the final 200 metres and their positions subsequently reversed.

Mitchell's suspension will commence on Thursday, August 6 (Independence Day).

Also suspended at inquiries held by the stewards at the Winchester Road offices of the Jamaica Racing Commission on Tuesday were jockeys Larris Allen and Devon A. Thomas.

Improper riding

Allen picked up one day suspension for improper riding aboard KOKOPELLI CAT in the 12th race on July 11, causing interference to both DARLINGFORD and FLAWLESS TALENT in the vicinity of the 300-metre marker, His suspension takes effect next Wednesday, July 29.

Thomas also picked up a day for careless riding aboard BEAUFIFUL SPACE in the same race. He was suspended for causing interference to MARSHALL JIM and the favourite NEW KINGSTON leaving the half mile. His suspension takes effect tomorrow.
