Delay in H1N1 diagnosis
Published: Tuesday | July 21, 2009
The purpose of this letter is to highlight the fact that the country's health facilities are not yet fully equipped to handle the volume of H1N1 testing, and more importantly, a pandemic.
I fell ill with influenza symptoms, and my doctor recommended that I do the H1N1 test. This was done on June 25, and up to the point of writing, the medical lab has not received the results. I am sure that there are hundreds of other persons waiting for their results, and they may never live to receive them.
What is being done?
Are we taking this seriously? If the answer is yes, what is being done?,
Vacationers will be returning to the island and back to school and this illness may be the most popular and contagious traveller around the world. The fact that our health system is taking so long to complete a diagnosis will only increase the chances of more persons getting the symptoms.
I recommend the remedy that worked for me. Go to the health store and boost up your immune system with lots of Vitamin C and other alternative medicine.
I am, etc.,
STILL WAITING
