A wedding is a beautiful thing, but it's even better when the bride does not keep everyone waiting.

There was no waiting on Saturday, July 11, at the wedding of Dr Monique Ford and Jeffrey Freund. Guests had just 30 minutes to snap pictures of the groom and find their seats before the double doors of the Immanuel United Church in Tower Isle, St Mary flew open and the beautiful bride walked in on the arm of her proud father, Linval Ford.

On a day when most fathers are sad to see their daughter 'taken' from them, Linval and Sheila Ford were thrilled to see their first born and only daughter so happy.

Where they met

The couple met in February 2006 while Ford was completing a fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Jeff's name means 'peace' and his last name Freund, (Fr-oin-d) is German for friend. His wife notes on their wedding webpage that he is aptly named.

"His patience, calm, loving kindness, gentle spirit and his dedication to children and young adults are only a few of his unique qualities."

The proposal

Freund proposed on Friday, November 7, 2008 at Michael's restaurant in Rochester, incorporating his usual charming ingenuity. Of course, it was almost all for nothing, as Ford at first missed the ring tied in golden ribbons to a bottle of wine that the waitress presented to her.

"We feel strongly led by God to spend the rest of our lives together", she continued on the page. Ford notes that her husband is a "a faithful companion, provider and protector", and also a great cook.

It was a great family affair and though all brides are beautiful on their wedding day, Monique might have surpassed that as it was a perfect day for a beautiful bride.
