Whenever the Trini Chix (that lovely group of women from the twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago) get together, it usually means fun caan done!

And so it was when they hosted a celebration for the life of the late 'King of Pop', Michael Jackson, at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel on Friday, July 10.

Eye-catching outfits

The black-and-silver decor on the hotel's roof, which was the venue, was reminiscent of a phase of Jackson's many eye-catching outfits. Guests came out in their white gloves, fedoras and 'shortish' pant to honour the entertainer.

DJ Bambino got the groove going early with some of Jackson's earlier (and slower) hits, but as the numbers swelled, he upped the tempo. And just because it was a tribute to Jackson it didn't mean he stuck to one artiste. He served up generous amounts of soca, disco and other genres, but selections from Jackson were never far away.

Dance-off

Soon enough, the dancers started to take over the proceedings; high-kicking, moonwalking (or trying to), the less innovative hip-shakers tried to copy the moves from the projector that was showing some of Jackson's best music videos. A dance-off of sorts, soon materialised and the crowd had quite a time deciding who was the winner, but everybody joined in the famous dance scene from the Thriller video.

Guests out included Ed Khoury, Bridgette Rhoden, Tamara Gourzong, Diana Burgess, Marcel Robinson, Simone Dunbar, Tara Ruddock, Tracee-Ann James, Robert Richards and Kathy Rattray.
