There was plenty of food, drink and copious selections from the turntables; sounds like a good party.

Usually the American International School in St Andrew is a more reserved place, with students doing their lessons and so on. But on Saturday, June 20, the lawns of the school became ground zero for the Jamdammers Running Club of Kingston's annual party marathon. And a marathon it was, with guests taking to the dance floor early.

Food was the fuel for the energy to get dancing. Now, unlike some parties at which guests don't come out until 2 a.m., the Jamdammers affair is always a time-sensitive affair. So the party people were out in good numbers even at 10 p.m., the crowd building all the time.

Renaissance Disco did a fine musical job, mixing and matching songs from different genres in the right amounts to satisfy the most music-crazy fans. Dance music from the '80s, soca, reggae and '90s dancehall (to which everybody 'bruk out') were all part of the musical feast and guests did dine.

Those spotted among the crowd included Alfred and Diane Francis, Charles Hussey, Delrose Campbell, Andrew Price, Daryl Vaz, Andrew Issa, Gregory and Michelle Mayne, Richard Lake, Collie Richards, Andrea Moore, Lisa Hanna, Stephen Dawkins and Peter Melhado.

With that smile, it's hard not to stand out like Racquel Goddard.

It's electric, boogy-woogy-woogy! Guests break out the electric slide as Renaissance Disco plays the popular tune.
