Who says blind dates are a bad idea? Not in all cases because one brought Jason Mascoe and Vonette Martin together a few years ago and they have been inseparable since.
"When we first met we were talking and laughing like we'd known each other forever, so it was definitely love at first sight for me," Mascoe says. "I knew that she was the one when we started going out more and getting to understand each other. I soon realised she was a sweet, loving, kind, beautiful, ambitious person and she liked me for who I was. Plus I prayed and asked God for a sign to let me know she was the one. She was beautiful on the outside and within."
"When I realised it was not just a physical attraction and I could freely be be myself around him, was when I wanted to spend my life with him," said Martin. She continued, "When I met Jason's parents, they accepted me totally and I felt comfortable around them - that sealed it for me. I also admire the value he places on family."
On Saturday, March 14, the two exchanged vows amid music and laughter. Mascoe, a private in the Jamaica Defence Force, wore his formal ceremonial attire complete with white gloves, at his bride's request. She, a teacher, was radiant in a classic, strapless white gown. The ceremony was held at Clifton New Testament Church on Mannings Hill Road and was officiated by the Reverend Stephen Luke Simpson.
The Mascoes honeymooned at Breezes, Montego Bay.
