The future is bright

Left: Green is the season's politically correct colour. Just check the streets of Iran or the shelves of trendy boutiques everywhere on every continent. Right: Subdued with black.

Despite the depressive mood of the financial atmosphere, recessionistas (fashionistas who are stylishly surviving the global recession) are hailing and embracing the super brights of the season.

One would mostly expect dim palettes filled with greys and dark blues, but quite the contrary is being reflected this summer. Fashion's zeitgeist is defying the current sad, uncertain pecuniary rut, and translating it, with great optimism, into hope for the future.

Suddenly, rich violets, bold blues, apple greens, juicy oranges and zingy reds are popping out of every shop window and into our closets.

A head-to-toe attempt at this colourful trend is socially unacceptable, but a pop-of-colour accessory is the ultimate fast fix way of nailing this fashion. Alternatively, the look can be toned down with shades of rust, putty and charcoal or any neutral tone. And for those who feel that a bright colour is no complement to their skin tone, just keep it away from your face and confine it to your bottom half. And, the best part is, there are no restrictions as to what time of day these bright colours in all their style simplicity can be worn; team with flowering shades accessories for day and strings of gold chains, bangles and rings at night for a stylishly striking statement.

The future is bright and full of diversified style!

Left: Casual but focused. Slip a white sash around the waist with your favourite shorts and top. Right: White never fades and can be perked up with a bold red bag or a trendy wide belt.

Left: Enough is a feast, bold colours say it all. Right: Call it a subtle contrast and balance things out with the right necklace.

Left: An ethnic-inspired one-sholder wrap dress is cinched with a wide leather belt. Right: White introduced to bold stripes.

Left: Spread colour everywhere and dangle it from the neck and ears too. Right: Something sunny and yellow; is an absolute must this season. - photos by Tanya c. Ellis
