So summer is just about here and the children will be out of school and looking for a good time. With the economy in the pits, you may be wondering how you'll pull it off. That annual trip to North America may be looking a bit pricey right now, but that's all right. Take a minute. Breathe. The situation presents the perfect opportunity to rediscover Jamaica.

One of the the best spots to do this is the famed Reach Falls in Portland. It's well off the proverbial beaten path and offers a unique taste of unspoilt nature at its best. There's a natural swimming pool, underwater caves and a whirlpool. Of course, you can spend your time getting a massage from the waters of the powerful falls. Take the family there and have a picnic or go for a swim you'll never forget. Reach Falls has long been the pride of Portland and will satisfy even the most television-addicted children.

The venue is open between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. It's generally closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, but is open if there's a public holiday. So, pack up the children this weekend and go experience the best Jamaica has to offer. Have fun!
