CHESTER-LE-STREET, England (CMC):

Shivnarine Chanderpaul believes West Indies can bounce back in the second and final Test against England, starting tomorrow at the Riverside ground he knows very well, having played in the last few years for Durham in the English County Championship.

"We just have to put Lord's behind us, come out here and play as well as we know we can," said Chanderpaul.

West Indies trail 0-1 in the series, following a 10-wicket defeat in the opening Test at Lord's.

"We're one down, so the only way to save the Wisden Trophy is to win this game," said Chanderpaul. "We will have to perform well to do this. This is Test cricket and it is not meant to be easy. We know this. But we have the ability to bounce back and we will be looking to do this."

He added: "We have to tighten all the areas and come out and play good cricket. We have to pick ourselves up and come out fighting. We have to be strong."

For Durham, it could be a memorable occasion with Chanderpaul on one side and new England bowling hero Graham Onions on the other.

Durham chief executive David Harker hopes that the club's two stars can draw more than the 3,000 who have bought tickets for the opening day.

"We have seen a surge in interest since the win at Lord's, which you can probably put down to Graham Onions," Harker said. "As a local lad, (Onions) could prove to be our saviour, but at the same time I hope he doesn't bowl too well and leave us with another three-day Test.

"If he gets rid of Chanderpaul with the last ball of the fifth day, and England win the match, we'll be happy."
