Sidelined West Indies fast bowler Darren Powell turned in a brilliant all-round performance on the weekend to guide Kensington to an innings and 40-run win over neighbours Lucas, in their two-day Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) Senior Cup Championship clash at Kensington Park.

Powell, who was dropped from the West Indies Test squad after a series of average performances away to New Zealand last year and at home against England earlier this year, made 99 and claimed 3-12 and 4-42, respectively, in both innings as Kensington recorded their second straight win.

They had defeated Boys' Town in their opening fixture.

The wins propelled Kensington, who narrowly missed out on promotion to the top flight Jamaica SuperCricket League, to sole leadership of Group B on 12 points.

Their points tally is three more than St Catherine Cricket Association, who got the better of St Thomas by five wickets at Port Esquivel.

Portland, who scored a 113-run win over Kingston and St Andrew (KSAC) at Folly Oval, have eight points.

At Kensington, Lucas made a paltry 117 in their first innings, with Rayon Smith getting 28 against Powell and left-arm unorthodox Dennis Bulli, 4-30. Kensington, in their reply, piled up 336-8 declared. Powell missed a century by one run and Rasheed Outar, 64, gave valuable support.

Batting a second time, Lucas were bowled out for 179 with Bulli, who claimed nine wickets in Kensington's first match, snaring 3-29.
